One Day in Provence
2009 Prices subject to currency fluctuations

ProvenceOver the centuries, Provence was the chosen home of many. First, the Romans, then the Popes followed by many artists and, now, living here is quite fashionable. Today, thanks to the TGV, world’s fastest train, you can easily discover this delightful region, the brightness of its light, the vividness of its colors and the charms of its traditions.

Transfer from the terminal to the Gare de Lyon. Board the TGV train departing at 9.34am. After covering 700 km (440 miles) through Burgundy and Rhône Valley, arrive Avignon at 12.15pm to first visit the Popes’Palace (entrance and audioguide included). With your guide, drive on to Saint-Remy de Provence and the Roman ruins of Glanum (photo stop). Guided tour of the perched village of Les Baux. Free time for shopping of local products (perfumes, lavender, Provencal fabrics). Cross the Rhone River between Tarascon and Beaucaire to reach, in a well kept natural site, the Pont du Gard, famous Roman aqueduct dating back to the 1st century (guided visit and free time).
